Mac Attack No. 24: Strawberry PinkOctober Macarons

Thanks for stopping by!  I am so happy to be baking in the MacTweets Virtual Kitchen this month of Pink October to raise Breast Cancer Awareness!  These little French treats are far from the usual macarons you have seen on my blog.  This is an entirely new recipe to me, since I am baking from the book Laduree:  Sucre [The Sweet Recipes].

Last week, as I was shopping online for a couple of birthday presents, I “accidentally” clicked 1-Click Ordering and sent the first gift to [clears throat] myself.  And of course, since I have Amazon Prime [Unlimited FREE 2-Day Shipping], I realized this little mistake 2 days later.  That’s how I ended up with Laduree:  The Sweet Recipes.  I am sticking to that.

The first present arrived in LA-LA Land a few days early, and the second present is at the mercy of India Post ;-) .  Unfortunately, Amazon Prime does not include international parcel. 

In case you have Laduree:  Sucre book, or will be receiving one shortly, my Strawberry Macarons recipe is adapted from Macarons Amande [Almond Macarons] on page 12.

  • 138g almond meal [150g]
  • 125g confectioner’s sugar [125g]
  • [10g powdered strawberries]
  • [3g kosher salt]

meringue

  • 111g egg whites [102g or whites from 3 eggs]
  • 105g granulated sugar [85g]

  1. Organic Strawberry Powder from Nuts Online made these macarons pink.  No additional food coloring used.     Here’s their link.
  2. Feel free to print The Daily Palette Macaron Template on 11″ x 17″ paper.  My friend Anuradha printed it directly on parchment paper.  Smart girl!  You will need three (3).
